What type of work is it?
Primarily, we run shipping containers in/out of the state ports, home nightly. Some locations (Wilmington especially) have other sorts of dry van or specialized equipment.
Where are you located?
We hire within a 45-minute radius of our terminals in the following locations:
Wilmington NC Headquarters (Regional applicants may live further out)
Conley, GA (Southeast Atlanta area)
How much experience do you require?
We require 2 years of verifiable tractor/trailer experience, or 1 year experience with CDL school.
Do you offer training?
Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to offer training to entry-level drivers at all of our locations. Our Wilmington location may consider recent CDL graduates on a limited, and case-by-case basis. Please call first to see if we have an opening. 800-239-0869.
What are you other requirements?
At least 23 years of age
Must be able to communicate effectively in English
Must have valid Class A CDL from state of residence
Must have TWIC card* (waived for Atlanta drivers only)
Some locations require HazMat or Tank endorsements, or willing to get within first 90 days from hire. Please ask our recruiter for details in your area.
No more than 2 moving violations in past 3 years
No drug or alcohol-related offense or violation within last 10 years
No CDL disqualification or suspended/revoked license within last 3 years
Stable work history & safe driving record
Must pass DOT physical exam and drug testing by company-designated medical provider
How do I get a TWIC?
A TWIC is issued by the TSA, and required for entry into all state ports. Since our drivers go into the ports on a daily basis, we can't offer much work until you have this in hand. Certain criminal offenses may disqualify you from obtaining a TWIC. Details and application can be found here: https://www.tsa.gov/for-industry/twic
What kind of trucks do you have?
Our fleet are primarily Volvo (70%), with a few Macks (23%) and Kenworths (7%). They're primarily day cabs, with an average age of 4 years. We have mechanics at each terminal dedicated to maintaining our rigorous preventative maintenance schedule. At this time, only 27% of our trucks are automatics, though as our 2022 orders roll in that number should increase. So, we cannot guarantee new hires an automatic assignment. In many locations though, if you have a license restriction or simply need some refresher training on driving manual, we can assist with that. We do not slip-seat, drivers will be assigned a vehicle once they complete orientation & training.
When do benefits start, and what kind are they?
Full-time employees are eligible for benefits 90 days after hire. Medical, Dental and Vision insurance is through United Healthcare. Our no-cost medical plan for employee-only coverage is a high deductible plan with health savings account, so employees can save pre-tax dollars along with the company's monthly contribution.
