About MCO

MCO Transport, Inc. is an asset based trucking and warehousing company headquartered in Wilmington, North Carolina. Established in 1975, MCO Transport has experienced stable and controlled growth through a solid commitment to customer service, and above all, safety. We currently operate state-of-the-art terminals and warehouses in Wilmington, NC, Charleston, SC, Savannah, GA and Brunswick, GA. Our company is proud of our commitment to safety and to the communities we serve. MCO Transport maintains this commitment by specializing in the safe, reliable and dedicated handling of all our client's transportation and warehousing needs.

Our trucks first appeared on the Wilmington, North Carolina scene in the early 1970's as a special commodities carrier, transporting steamship line containers to and from the local port. Today we operate as an intrastate and interstate carrier handling a diverse mix of products for local, regional and national clientele. Our commitment to customer service and safety is met by utilizing experienced, well trained, professional drivers and late model, state-of-the-art equipment.

The MCO Fleet

The MCO Transport fleet consists of a complimentary blend of late model, company owned units in addition to trucks owned and operated by independent contractors. The entire fleet is equipped with satellite messaging and tracking technology, giving MCO Transport the ability to trace your shipment from beginning to end, anywhere in the United States. Our equipment is routinely inspected and maintained at our on-site maintenance facilities, ensuring the highest measures of safety are met beyond industry standards. The average age of a truck in our fleet is 1.57 years old, providing our shippers with the confidence that their freight is being handled by a safe and reliable unit. It is MCO's belief that innovation is the key to exceeding our customer's expectations. We have designed equipment specifically for customer requirements and even hold patents on specialty equipment, engineered with our customer's needs in mind.

Our People

The most functional and innovative equipment all becomes useless, unless placed in the hands of skilled people who care. That's just one of the many reasons MCO Transport is selective in our hiring process. Not only does this result in superior experience among our drivers, but it also assures you of professionalism in the handling of your freight. Our training and safety requirements far exceed existing federal regulations. Our instructional staff allows us to conduct educational sessions, which further ensures our employees commitment to safety, training and professionalism. It is that same display of professionalism in our people that has earned us the reputation in the industry as being "white-collar trucking at its best".

MCO Safety

At MCO Transport we live and breathe the philosophy that safety is the key ingredient to success. As a motor carrier we recognize our commitment to the safety of the general public in the communities in which we operate. For many years we have maintained a satisfactory rating with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.  Each of our new hires require at least one year of experience and must meet MCO qualifications; which exceeds all state and federal standards. Each new hire is given no less than three days on-the-job training, including classroom orientation and a thorough review of all MCO Transport safety operating policies and procedures. All professional drivers and staff are required to attend our quarterly safety meetings.

We are also a proud participant of Highway Watch, administrated by the American Trucking Association and the Department of Homeland Security. Highway Watch is the transportation sector's national safety and security program that utilizes the skills and "road smarts" of America's transportation workers to help protect the nation's critical infrastructure and the transportation of goods, services, and people. Each of our drivers is required to go through this program in order to receive certification. We are proud of our commitment to this program and its role in protecting our nation's roads and infrastructure (the shipper's lifeline) from terrorism.

SafeStat, short for Motor Carrier Safety Status Measurement System, is an automated data-driven system that calculates the safety fitness of motor carriers. The program is administered by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and is a one-of-a-kind tool used by shippers throughout North America to help distinguish between carriers that operate safely from those which do not.   A SafeStat score of 75 or higher is consider deficient and a shipper should heed warning. The score is measured in two Safety Evaluation Areas (SEAs). Driver SEA measures safety as it pertains to driver offenses such as moving violations or Hours of Service errors. Vehicle SEA measures the condition of a truck or trailer following a roadside inspection.

MCO is proud to affirm that our SafeStat score have consistently remained satisfactory. Below we have provided a 12 month summary from Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
